We are official community partners for SuperReturn Japan. Two days at The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo in December, with more LPs in the room than GPs and Japan's institutional allocators on stage.

Why this room matters

SuperReturn's own numbers put this at 400+ senior decision makers across two days, and it is the rare SuperReturn where LPs outnumber GPs. Over half of the LPs are institutional, and they come from Japan, the US, Singapore, the UK, China and beyond.

  • 400+ senior decision makers
  • 200+ LPs from Japan and beyond
  • 150+ GPs from around the world
  • 20+ countries and 8,000+ meetings

The agenda runs across Japan's buyout and venture boom, private credit, secondaries and liquidity, private wealth, GP stakes, infrastructure and the energy transition, carveouts and succession, and AI. The content is curated by an LP council.

If you are an established manager, this is a room for moving existing Japanese LP conversations forward in their own city. The LP-only sessions, the LP lunch and the afternoon tea are where that happens.

If you are an emerging manager, come for the pipeline rather than the cheque. Two days is enough to start relationships with allocators you would otherwise not get in front of, and the meeting lounge means you can book them before you land.

LPs from pensions, endowments, foundations, insurers, single family offices, development finance institutions and sovereign funds can usually attend free, subject to qualification. Talk to us and we will point you to the right person.

The two days

Wednesday 2 December opens with the big picture: global private capital in a fractured world, why Japan and why now, the China question, the liquidity spectrum, where the AI opportunity sits in private markets, and Japan's VC boom. A women in private markets lunch, an invite-only LP afternoon tea and the day one drinks reception sit around the sessions.

Thursday 3 December goes deeper by asset class: private equity beyond borders, how sustainable private credit's growth is, owner exits and carveouts in Japan, hard assets and infrastructure in the age of geopolitical risk, sustainability without greenwashing, co-investments, and private wealth. The LP-only lunch and an LP-only session on side letters run alongside.

If you are flying in for one day, make it the Wednesday. The Japan VC session and the investor insights panel are both on day one, and the drinks reception is where the second day's meetings get booked.
